The Pegram Preservation Association (PPA) will hold an election forum on the evening of Tuesday, July 16 at the Chestnut Grove Civic Center to give residents the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates running for local office.
For this year’s election cycle, Pegram has three open seats: mayor and two at-large aldermen.
Former Pegram Mayor Charles Morehead will run uncontested for the 2024-2028 term. Six candidates are running for the two open alderman seats.
Incumbent Vice Mayor Bob Sanders will seek reelection for another four-year term. Alderman Bo Sanders did not petition to run again, leaving his seat vacant.
“There is a greater number of candidates in this cycle than in the previous cycles during my tenure,” Cheatham County Election Commission Administrator Pam Frejosky said. Frejosky took on her role in 2017.
In addition to incumbent Bob Sanders, five other Pegram residents are running for the two open alderman seats:
Christopher Crump;
Leah Louallen;
Miranda Montgomery;
Hope Tinsley; and
Randy Fiedler.
“On Tuesday we will be holding a Pegram Election Candidate Forum to allow those running for public office to share their platform and for the public to ask questions and share hopes for the future of our Pretty Little Town Of Pegram,” PPA said.
The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. at 8422 Old Charlotte Pike in Pegram.
Candidates will be given the opportunity to present an opening statement, and then the public is invited to ask questions in an open forum that will be moderated by PPA President Nathan Dohese.
All six candidates running for alderman as well as incoming Mayor Charles Morehead were invited to attend. As of the date of publication, only Chris Crump, Miranda Montgomery, and Randy Fielder will attend.
According to PPA, Leah Louallen and Bob Sanders will not be attending due to prior out of town commitments. The organization has given them the opportunity to write opening statements that will be read ahead of the Q&A. Alderman candidate Hope Tinsely and incoming Mayor Charles Morehead have not yet responded at the time of publication.
Pegram’s local elections will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1. Early voting for this election will be held July 12 through July 27.
Registered voters can fill out their early voting ballots at Pegram City Hall. Residents can also vote early at Pleasant View First Baptist Church and Sycamore Square – David McCullough Room in Ashland City.
