Pegram church offering affordable counseling

Written by Courtney Steed, family outreach minister at Pegram Church of Christ

Pegram Community Counseling (PCC) is a group of independent private practices serving South Cheatham, Dickson, West Nashville and the surrounding counties. Hosted and located at Pegram Church of Christ, the group has a mission of making professional counseling and other mental health support services available, accessible and affordable for children, teens, adults, couples and families, regardless of their religious affiliation or lack thereof.

PCC providers offer mental health support for people with a wide variety of needs, including anxiety and depression, religious trauma, eating disorders and body image issues, life transitions (such as divorce, loss, etc.), grief and loss, addiction and more.

Pegram Church of Christ has offered professional counseling support to the community for over 15 years. Steve Vann, MAR LPmhsp, a licensed professional counselor, has offered affordable counseling since 2009 and has been an integral part in establishing Pegram Community Counseling and, in 2022, bringing additional providers to the practice. He sees clients of all ages, couples and families.

In 2022, PCC welcomed Abby Myers, an independent license Marriage and Family Therapist. She specializes in and has a heart for working with children, adolescents, teens and their families. Also in 2022, PCC began working closely with the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Lipscomb University. Each academic year, they welcome 1-2 clinical interns who have completed around 100 hours of clinical experience and are well-practiced in the most current, evidence-based therapies, including play therapy and Family Systems Therapy.

In 2023, PCC established a strong working relationship with God’s Word for Warriors, a local non-profit organization that supports veterans. When veterans and/or their families need counseling services, the PCC strives to find a provider to meet their needs. One provider, Sabrina Brown, a PCC MFT Clinical Intern, is a Navy veteran with a passion for supporting veterans and their families. She also has extensive experience with supporting blended families and families affected by addiction.

Last year, PCC also welcomed a Life, Loss, and Wellness Coach, Penny Kendall Fox, PPC, who sees clients remotely. She specializes in grief and end-of-life support for clients and their families. As a widow and Gold Star Mother, Penny can offer compassionate care for those suffering with loss, before and after death or due to other traumatic events.

According to Courtney Steed, family outreach minister at Pegram Church of Christ, “By welcoming providers with a wide range of experiences and areas of specialization, we can help more members of our community, which is our goal and the overarching vision for PCC.”

Pegram Community Counseling offers affordable rates, $50-75 depending on the provider. PCC providers see clients Tuesday through Friday and appointments can be scheduled by contacting the providers directly. More information about each provider, including contact information, days of practice and areas of expertise, can be found at www.pegramcommunitycounseling.org or by emailing steve@pegramchurchcounseling.org.
