On a recent Wednesday around an hour before noon, clusters of senior citizens milled about the kitchen and dining area at Pegram's United Methodist Church, some affixing ID badges, others picking up pastries or loaves of bread from the free baked goods table and a few weaving through the crowd to drop a contribution into the plastic container discreetly placed near the food service window.
Mostly, though, they just chatted amiably with each other. Simply getting together seemed as great a source of joy as eating a hot lunch.
