Cheatham County School District’s (CCSD) Director of Schools Cathy Beck is departing after nearly a decade in her leadership role.
Her final day will be June 30, 2025.
Beck joined CCSD in 2017 as the director of schools. She is retiring after what will be eight years in this position and 36 years total in education.
Beck earned her doctorate in 2012 to be able to teach at a university and noted that “it is my hope to be able to fulfill this dream in the next chapter of my career.”
The School Board has not discussed the timeline nor the process for finding Beck’s successor, but said, “we anticipate this will happen in the spring.”
“It has been an honor and privilege to lead our district since 2017,” Beck said. “I will always treasure the relationships formed with staff, students, community members and the School Board. I am proud of the work that we have all done together.”
“As I retire, I will leave with a sense of pride and confidence in the future of the Cheatham County School District. I know that our district will continue to thrive and uphold its commitment to providing the best possible education for all students,” she added.
“I am very grateful for the support and trust everyone has given me throughout my career here in Cheatham County,” Beck continued. “I have no doubt that our district will be left in outstanding hands, and I look forward to finishing this year strong.”
Before landing in Cheatham County, Beck served as an elementary school teacher in Alabama for nearly two decades. She then moved to Colorado to serve in leadership roles, including a middle school dean of students, high school principal, principal of an International Baccalaureate Dual Language elementary school and an assistant superintendent.
Beck and her husband, Skip, have six children, two dogs and a cat. They reside in Kingston Springs.
