By the time the Art in the Park festival opened Saturday morning, Oct. 5 at Burns Park, the parking lot was filled and cars were lining up along the entrance lane. The sea of pointed tents that housed the various exhibits gleamed in the sun like a movie set from “Camelot.” The temperature was a congenial 83 degrees. By all measurements, the event was a rousing success.
City manager John Lawless reported there was a total of 84 exhibitors, most displaying arts and crafts with a few food stalls. Exhibitors were not charged an entry fee, Lawless said, except for “three or four” who required electrical connections.
